Whatever it is that makes a band stand out and stick with you these guys have. Your Best Friend is an up and coming band from Saginaw, MI and they are doing something totally original. They have everything I love about rock music; they are incredibly tight, technically amazing, and have crafted perfectly refined songs with elements of indie, progressive, and rock. I love them like I have not loved a woman in a long time.
The band consists of John Bonham(guitar/keys/vocals), Dale Brown(bass/vocals), Nick Edler(drums/vocals) and Steve Sochanek(guitar/vocals) a grouping who all mesh together better than a mesh shirt and bicycle shorts did in the 80's. Imagine, if you can, At the Drive In's vocals mixed with Minus the Bear, Small Brown Bike and Bear vs. Sharks music. Yeah, it really is that good, and the vocals are spot on, they kept it REAL punk rock. The boys are all in their early to mid twenties which means they will only get better. Your Best Friend just became my new musical obsession.
Highly recommended is the song "Aborir," it begins with a beautifully played acoustic riff accompanied by lush keys and some of the catchiest leads I have heard in a very long time. Simply put, this is the future of rock and roll and just when you think the song is happy time sleepy music to make love to it comes in hard and epic, it is truly the best song I have heard in years. If this band is not signed within the year then there is no hope left for rock and roll and the 3OH!3 dance caca will rule the airwaves and we will all become infantile robots dance fighting in the streets.
I don't want to see that, I want to see these boys being paid and living like kings while we all sing there songs in the shower and write there lyrics on our trapper keepers.
