Attempting to accurately describe Victorian Halls is truly a daunting task. They are really like nothing else that is currently coming out in the music world as of right now. This clan of 4 ridiculously talented human beings are creating music that is not only a breathe of fresh air, but also intelligently written and played with a precision that is hard to find today.
Victorian Halls possesses a sound that can be related to the likes of The Blood Brothers and Cursive, yet it is still a sound all of their own. The chord progressions and time structures utilized are not normally used in writing today, which gives each song a twist that leaves many listeners floored and wanting more and more. Not to mention that the lyrics in each song are very well crafted too. These are not words that are overly generalized; these are well thought out and structured lyrics that hold down solid storylines. In addition to the standard guitar, drum, and bass structure of many bands today, Victorian Halls tactfully throws in an addition of dramatic keys in many of their songs. This added touch completely pushes their sound to the next level.
The live show of a band is obviously one of the most important aspects, and Victorian Halls passes the live performance test with flying colors. Watching these four gents walk onstage is almost like watching a scene out of “A Clockwork Orange,” with all four members clad in white pants with a look in their eyes that they are about to create controlled chaos onstage. As soon as their set starts they kick the energy into overdrive embracing the crowd whenever possible, and playing with the precision and power of the most seasoned bands. One second there will be a band member standing atop a stack of guitar amps, and the next he will be on the completely other side of the stage working that side of the room and getting the crowd involved in the spectacle. A Victorian Halls performance is almost as theatrical as it is musical.
If you are one of those people always looking for the next big thing in music, then I definitely suggest you check out Victorian Halls. I especially suggest you check them out if you are tired of hearing the same old music being made over and over again, because this band will make you realize that there is something unique out there, a band who is pushing modern music’s boundaries, a band who is paving a path to success all on their own.
