The Alumni Club had quite the time this past year, from playing shows and touring, to recording their newest album. “Our motto literally has been ‘5 or 500’. It doesn’t matter if there’s 5 or 500. If we leave there with one person who is really into us, I feel like we did our job,” says lead singer Greg Mackiewicz. So what kind of things can we expect from The Alumni Club‘s new album? “A new level of maturity and who we are. It’s has a lot to do with the past few years of us growing up together as friends, how hard we’re working, and how much fun we’re having doing it,” says Greg. “When you hear everything that you spent so much time on and trying to do so much to, it all just comes into one picture and you’re like hell yes! There is nothing better than that moment, all your worries about money and how things are going to come out, it all ends right there.”

Jamison Butcher, Alumni’s drummer said, “You feel like the man, there’s that certain amount of pride when you hear the final product. The first time you take a drive and listen to it is probably the best part… It’s like having a baby I bet.”
With a vigorous touring and recording schedule the Alumni Club’s bond as a band can only grow stronger, Greg said “recording is painful and it takes a long time, however, everything we have been through and everything we are going to go through will just develop our friendships and music as the years go by.”

Matt, the newest member to the Club, has to adjust to a touring band lifestyle, which isn’t always easy, but he has been managing. “The music is different than what I’m used to playing. It’s a lot tighter, more professional. It’s a good change.” Greg chimes in with, “People think he’s Maroon 5’s lead singer, he’s our dreamy guitar machinist!”
“I think 2009 is the year we’re going to keep everyone updated. This is the year I want to make that commitment to everyone. We want to do at least one video a month to let everyone know what we are doing. It’s the year of Matt Alfus. You’ve been warned. Guitar isn’t just an instrument anymore. He’s going to take it to the house,” explained Greg.
If I could describe The Alumni Club in a few words, they would be; energetic, talented, and driven. According to the band, they’re “Up Early Out Late”, which is the title to the bands newest release. As for a release date on the new album, “We don’t want to set a release date until it’s in our hands, hopefully spring 09.”
